Artist Statement
As an artistic tweener producing paintings that reflect techniques typically seen within graphic designers and illustrators, my paintings discuss and act as a window into the mind of a contemporary black millennial, expressing feelings towards our current societal land- scape while simultaneously masquerading on the surface as whimsical rubber-hose inspired cartoons.
Currently, my work features subjects ranging from interpersonal insights and philosophies that reflect broader matters about contem- porary society; War, Vanity, Vices, Etherealism, Lonerism, Modern Tech and Love are examples. My Inspiration includes artists such as Smithone, James Jean, Frank Dunson, Andrew Warhola, Emory Douglas, Roy Lichtenstein and a mixture of late 1990s/ear- ly 2000s American cartoons, Japanese anime/manga, and video games. I'd credit this eclectic cast of influences with the uniqueness of my work, not to mention my background and education in paint- ing, graphic design, and illustration, sparking my affinity with Acrylic paints, Ink, and Graphite.

The Beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

Seldom is the sadistic seen as the savior. As I see it, our black existence is inherently sadistic. Yet and still, we're kicking flavor with high favor that rival colosseums and towers. Reach for it and save yourself. Young men, it's you who holds the power.

Find solace within your inner monologue. Again, you know how we've been raised to retain thoughts to ourselves. It is a man's game, taming the pain filled and prideful just to feel shamed either way.

This body of work manifests as a lifelong admiration for Japanese kanji and katakana, calligraphy, 1980s Arcade and Consol games, a reverence for God, and a love for artists such as Pharrell, Nigo, and spirituality. Honestly, I'm being dramatic. At the time, I ran dry on canvases to paint but happened to have a box of blank designer-grade shirts collecting dust in my closet. The rest is history.
